Hey pokertalk, I’ve commented in the community a few times but never done a post so I think the time may have come to do a post.
I’ve been playing poker for a few years at all sorts of stakes from .05/.10 up to 2/4 but I realised recently that I’ve never actually sat down and grinded for a few months at NL cash online as I would often get in the habit of renewing my PT db every few weeks, purging bad sessions occasionally (lying to oneself to try and forget those tilting days) and kidding myself that I was ‘grinding’ when in fact I was only playing very, very recreationally with about as much discipline as an unruly child. Every time I got a couple K in my account, woo-hoo, lets drink beer and play some PLO! Etc.
So I’m starting on a mission to grind baby stakes 25NL for at least 40K hands. 8 tables at once, EVERY day. If I can’t crush this limit then oh well. Pass the suicide pls. As part of acquiring the discipline to attempt this monumental effort that has never before been achieved in the history of poker, ever (excepting approx. five million other internet nerds) I resolved to post updates in my blog, in communities and so on. It’s a plan, I guess.
My questions to you guys are:
a) Are you a ‘grinder’, and what defines one?
b) How do you approach grinding? Set daily times, hands per week?
c) How do you handle this stuff mentally?
d) Are you a complete fish who plays 25NL on Pokerstars? If so, what is your username?
Thanks all, wish me luck
